The mountains and you
So, hikers, why do you like to hike?
The GTA, along with its partners, has launched an online survey to better
understand the motivations (and needs) of its hiking public.

The mountains and you: a blog from the summit!
From 20 April onwards
In the world of blogs of all kinds, this is a newborn infant, but "good fairies" have already waved their wands over its cradle: celebrities as diverse as Patrick Poivre d'Arvor, Isabelle Autissier, Michael Jones, Corinne Touzet, Max Gallo and Yann Arthus-Bertrand have agreed to write the first letters for "the mountains and you", a blog entirely devoted to French people's approach to the mountains. For according to the celebrities, from 20 April 2009 onwards it is indeed aimed at the mass of anonymous Internet surfers - whether or not they undertake mountain activities themselves - and it deals with the broadest possible themes. For between the French films "bronzed skiers" and the "hikers", and away from the silver screen, what exact image do our fellow-citizens have of the mountains? What examples and evocative memories of the mountain environment are conjured up by advertising, television, newspapers ... or their friends when they return home from a trip to the mountains?
Launched by the Montanea organisation in Chambéry, and linked with many of the people and organisations principally associated with mountains - including the Grande Traversée des Alpes - these exchanges, which are a "first" in the mountain environment, will also aid longer-term thinking. An appraisal of this first stage will take place in Chambéry, next autumn.
So, whether or not you are a "mountain person", involved in mountain activities, get onto your keyboard and start typing now!
