Michel Dimitrieff: crossing the mountains with a handicap
Michel DIMITRIEFF, who has a motor disability and is passionate about mountaineering, is to set off in the footsteps of Patrick Bérhault for a "long-term journey" lasting 10 months, which will take him from Triglav (Slovenia) to Menton (France), crossing the ALPINE ARC.
He will follow the route of the Via Alpina, undertaking the ascent of famous peaks. The Grande Traversée des Alpes (Great Alpine Crossing), the greatest mountaineering institutions and more than 80 high-altitude mountain guides are accompanying him on this adventure.
Nevertheless, Michel has not really had to keep within a budget, enabling him to undertake this journey in the best possible conditions.

GTA Handic'Alpes
When a slightly mad bet simply becomes reality ... The organisation GTA handic'Alpes was set up in 2007, to enable blind and visually-handicapped people to undertake the Great Alpine Crossing (Grande Traversée des Alpes). According to its president, Philippe Gaudiez, its current growth promises an excellent future.
Its goal is to accompany and guide visually-handicapped people along hiking trails. Its leitmotiv is a new vision of hiking!
